Media Sharing Reflections
What did you learn?
So much! I learned the difference of adding videos and embedding videos. I knew how to upload pictures, but I learned how to use Flickr and embed images from Flickr into my blog. It was like a shortcut. I learned about searching for Creative Commons images. Then, there was embedding videos and playlists. Embedding the playlist was the easiest. I had no problems with it. Also, I can’t forget the copyright and fair use laws and the Creative Commons licenses.
How will you use what you have learned?
I will embed tutorial videos in my wiki/blog for teachers. That will be quicker for the teachers. I like the idea of making a school Flickr account for teachers to upload pictures for the year. I also will start a playlist for background music for teachers to use in their lessons. I always started a lesson on the differences between the moon and earth with the Theme from Star Wars. This will be a great place to find music and store it on our wiki.
How did you feel about this tool?
There was a lot to learn about media sharing. I am sure as I use these tools, I will keep learning more. I know as I show teachers these tools, I hope I don’t have some of the same problems getting started as I did.
What do you not want to forget about this tool?
All the steps. I hope the blog/wiki on our staff development this summer never gets erased. It will be a great resource to go back and follow the steps again when I forget something.
How can this be used in the classroom or in your educational role?
Please read above on how I will use this tool.
Would you use a shared media like playlist.com?
See above for my ideas on using playlist.com.
Should you use this in the classroom or your educational role?
Yes, I will use all these ideas in my TechTip Wikispaces. Hopefully, the teachers will see the value in a school Flickr account and even the Playlist.com.
What questions do you still have about these tools?
1. I had problems with the API Endpoint when I registered my blog on Flickr. I would like to know a solution before I start getting teachers to follow those directions.
2. I can’t get my video to show up. It is embedded and shows the circle timer as if it is about to start, but then it never starts. Any suggestions?

I think imbedding tutorial videos in your blog and wiki is a GREAT idea. I would definitely refer back to something like that often as I integrated various aspects of technology into my curriculum. I hope the teachers on your campus appreciate all the hard work that will go into developing those videos and refer to them often!
