Introduction to Scrapblog.com

Posted in Blogging, Scrapblogging tagged at 8:50 pm by B.Barnard

I once had an activity for the students in Language Arts where they made a scrapbook on a book and character they read. After seeing Scrapblog.com, I thought students could scrapblog their favorite book. They could do it using the perspective of the main character in the settings in the story or as themselves using their own imagination within the elements in the story. They could also show how the character changes as the story progresses.
Another idea is to use uploaded school pictures from Flickr to create these Scrapblogs for students and families to view and comment.
I have played with Scrapblog.com and have created just a sample to show my teachers using one of the template themes.

I’m glad you enjoyed Scrapblog too! I really like your book character scrapbook idea. I’ll have to pass it on to my teachers as well.

That sounds like a great idea. I just attended a Promethean training, and on e of the tasks was for each of us to create a 3-5page flipchart. One of the girls created one on a book series she was reading. What was neat about her pages, is that they linked to a site by the author, had a graphic organizer where others could fill in the sequence of events, it even had one graphic organizer that was a venn diagram, where you could move around descriptions about two of the characters. This would be a great follow-up to a literature circle, and could incorporate your scrapbook idea :)
